When collecting feedback during the playtest we did, the thing that was most abundantly apparent was that people wanted to be able to make a character based on their favourite arthropod. While classes and races aren't really going to be a thing in Bug & Claw, especially with the chaos of infection and mutation, folks can still start from a common base.
As Bug-kin physiology and society evolved, certain aspects of intelligence and language were quite literally genetically inherited or programmed. While words for who or what they are may be embedded in the minds of some, the why of that knowledge, the science, or the whole picture of its understanding, has been lost. The way forced evolution and mutation have effected certain arthropods has also caused the slow merging of traditional arthopod orders. This has naturally led to the simplification or slangifying of terms.
Each of the below represent an order of Bug-kin in Western Entomara with their common ancestors listed beneath.
Each of these will be built into a playbook for the game. Much of this will likely be based in flavour, as mutation will open up skill trees for any order.
Wisp
High moths and butterflies
Wisps were spoken about briefly in Wisps - Devlog #45.
Phemas
Mayflies
Phemas are dangerous enemies in the wilds of Entomara, one of the many creatures that have been effected negatively by infection and mutation.
These orders are not going to be the end. These are just the starting orders for the game and fiction.
